To all my angling friends.
While I agree that closing waters to us anglers to protect manatee is ludicrous, I don't think "kill the manatees" will help us a bit. It certainly won't prove that anglers are better conservationist than the tree huggers. Only the facts are important.
Manatees are not native to Florida but we are stuck with them.
The manatee population is growing, hence more deaths.
Manatees are roam farther north than ever, thanks in part to their population and electric plants.
Manatees are food source to the natives in South America.
Many of the few boating related Manatee deaths are from large vessels like tugs. (You've seen the TV news showing an injured manatee with prop marks that are twelve inches long. That's no prop from a flats boat!)
We all think alike and want to keep our right to fish. What if there was a Redfish tournament to benefit Manatee research or to benefit marine conservation? Wouldn't that help the bunny huggers, the manatees, and prove we are truly conservationist? Aren't we the folks that banned the nets? How many dolphin no longer have to fight their way out of a net because of our net ban efforts?
Fishermen are the better conservationist!

They eat over grown seaweed. and how does that affect

My take:Actually they were imported to help combat the seaweed clogging the waterways, but studies have shown they affect the seaweed population in no real way. Now they have no usefull purpous excepting pissing people off.

Sir,
First of all, if you want to be taken seriously, use correct spelling and
grammar.
Second, it is sad that you let a poor defenseless animal make your life
"hell".
Third, I hope you get caught eating a Manatee and I will see you rot in
jail. Besides, they have a great deal of fat on their bodies from eating
over 100lbs of vegetation a day. They keep your waterways clean of excess
vegetation. They have a purpose on earth, do you? And don't tell me it is
just to go boating and to eat Manatees. Next time you get hungry, why
don't you just chew on your own disgusting body. It serves no purpose and
is taking up MY waterways and beaches.
